Next course Oct 31st & 1st November 2011 at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, Exeter. Book online now. South West regional anaesthesia courses build upon the success of previous courses held in both Taunton and Exeter. These were highly popular and enjoyed very good feedback from participants. This course is aimed at anaesthetists in training (principally ST2 and above level), although it is also suitable for career grade staff who wish to expand their knowledge of regional anaesthesia. The teaching will be delivered using a mixture of formal lectures covering key core topics, small group workshops (max 10/grp), and video demonstrations of blocks. Following feedback from previous courses we have decided to abandon real-time video linked demonstrations in favour of pre-recorded videos recorded by our faculty. These will be unedited to show all the challenges sometimes faced by the regional anaesthetist! The block demonstrator will be present during the deomnstration to talk through the technique and take questions form the audience. Over the 2 days we will attempt to cover all the major upper and lower limb peripheral nerve blocks, as well as some novel blocks e.g the TAP block. Workshops will cover both landmark based techniques and ultrasound. We will also cover relevant anatomy and pharmacolgy ,equipment, conduct of anaesthesia, and complications. All participants will receive a copy of the South West Regional Anaesthesia Workbook in electronic format. For more information contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
