About SOWRA
The South West Regional Anaesthesia Group is a charity registered by the Charity Commission for England and Wales (Charity number: 1142538) and exists to:
- Advance the standards of regional anaesthesia and pain management.
- Encourage awareness of regional anaesthesia and pain management amongst the general public.
- Provide a forum for regional anaesthetic enthusiasts within the south west region to meet and network
- Provide training and educational updates in regional anaesthesia and pain management techniques.
- Promoting research in all areas of regional anaesthetic practice.
South West Regional Anaesthesia Course
Every year (usually in November) SOWRA runs the popular South West Regional Anaesthesia Course.
The next course will be held on 22-23 May 2025 in Plymouth.
12 CPD points have been granted by the Royal College of Aanesthetists and we are an EDRA accredited workshop (11 points)

SOWRA Travel Bursaries
SOWRA invites trainees within the peninsula deanery to apply for funds up to £600 to fund a venture to further develop training or experience in the field of regional anaesthesia.
Up to 2 bursaries will be awarded in each calendar year. All applications must be made prospectively. Further details available here.
SOWRA Research Grants
Applications are now invited for research grants up to the value of £1000 to support clinical research projects related to regional anaesthesia.
